Good news for Apple Music subscribers: Apple Music will no longer add DRM to songs you upload to the cloud

Good news for Apple Music subscribers:
Apple Music will no longer add DRM to songs you upload to the cloud
Streaming-Service Apple Music
Not only is the matching algorithm now better (matching from audio fingerprints instead of metadata), tracks you upload to iTunes from Apple Music will no longer have DRM.
In other words, it will now work exactly the same way as the existing iTunes Match feature.
When Apple Music debuted last year, one of the benefits of the service was that any music already in your iTunes library that you didn’t buy from Apple could be uploaded to the cloud for access later.
Apple would simply match the tracks it could in its library (Amazon and Google both offer similar services). The problem – and what made Apple Music’s matching different from iTunes Match – was that it would attach DRM to any of those uploads.
That might be OK if you stay an Apple Music subscriber forever. (Actually, no, I take that back. It’s never OK to put DRM on non-DRM content that you upload to the cloud.) But it presents problems if you cancel the service because any tracks you download back to your computer now have DRM on them.
The music songs downloaded from Apple Music can only work during the time you subscribe the Apple Music. After you cancel the Apple Music subscription, even you have downloaded the music songs, you can’t play them because of the DRM.
And if you have some downloaded Apple Music files, how to break the DRM from Apple Music software?
First, go to download and install the iTunes Converter on your computer, run it.
If you are a Windows user, view http://macsome.com/MacsomeIC.exe
If you are a Mac user, please download the iTunes Converter for Mac version.
 install1
Second, click the button Add, you can choose the different iTunes library to add the audio files to convert.
2
And select the file you want to convert, click OK, and then all files you selected will be listed on the main window.
Third, click Setting button to set the output format and output path before the conversion as your need.
3
Finally, click the Convert button to start converting.
6
After the conversion, all the Apple Music songs have been removed DRM

What's new about Apple Music in iOS 10

The iOS 10 release date is likely two months away, but the public beta is available now. One of the biggest changes in iOS 10 besides all the new messaging features is the redesigned Music app. Apple has created a simpler interface in an attempt to make Apple Music easier to use and songs easier to find. The app has larger fonts and bold titles with easy to understand tabs such as Library, Radio and Search. What makes Apple Music better than before is the ability to easily find your own music in the app.
Apple Music of iOS 10
Apple Music was met with criticism after the company redesigned the app and launched its own music streaming service in 2015. iOS users were confused on how to access music they had previously purchased through iTunes and how to listen to already existing playlists. The redesigned app in iOS 10 puts your music front and center in the easy to use Library section. The Artists tab looks like a Contacts page for musicians with an alphabetized list and easy to identify image icons.
Artists changes of iOS 10
The app is heavily focused on album art making it easy to spot the musician you're looking for. The Albums tab includes large album art for easy browsing, or users can utilize the Search tab to quickly locate artists, songs and albums. The app also distinguishes between songs that you have actually downloaded onto your device so it is less confusing for Apple Music subscribers.
The For You section is basically the same as it was before. The app still offers suggestions for new music based on your past listening history, plus it offers a better mix of music and new playlists every day. You still need a subscription to access Apple's streaming service and take advantage of all the perks, like the For You section. You can join Apple Music by navigating to Settings > Music and tapping the Join Apple Music link. Non-members can still access the Connect and Radio sections. The Radio tab includes live streams to Beats 1, NPR, ESPN and Bloomberg Radio.
The Music app has also seen some slight tweaks from beta to beta, which suggests we haven't seen the final product. The redesigned Music app will be available in iOS 10 when it is released this fall.
The first public iOS 10 beta is now available for download on all supported devices.

News: Apple Music Loses 3 Times More Subscribers a Month Than Spotify

Apple Music has a huge problem.  It’s called ‘churn’…

video.yahoofinance.com@10d815b5-1cb5-35b6-9887-406d226c4c9e_FULL
Last week, Cowen’s John Blackledge and Tim Arcuri shared some information in a recent report related to streaming churn.  Specifically, on the rate at which Spotify and Apple Music lose subscribers on a monthly basis.  According to Cowen, Apple Music have a subscriber churn rate of 6.4%, which is nearly three times higher than Spotify, whose churn rate is 2.2%.
The news is shocking, especially for those prognosticating that Apple’s streaming service has the potential to outgrow Spotify. But in light of this new information, it’s hard to see this being a possibility.  At last count, Spotify surpassed 30 million paying users, and Apple Music announced half of that, with 15 million paying users.
Suddenly, this horse race is taking on an entirely different dimension.  Both streaming services are adding, on average, one million paying users per month.  But some simple math calculating churn shows how difficult it will be for Apple to catch up to Spotify.  If these churn rates are indeed correct, it could prove impossible.
Meanwhile, Apple has been working on securing as many artist exclusives as possible, all part of a strategy to sway customers from Spotify and other competing streaming services.  Considering the churn stats, that might be working in terms of getting people to sign up, but not when it comes to keeping people around.
And what about lingering chatter of an Apple acquisition of Tidal?  If this is indeed the case, then Apple Music may have a chance to rule the music streaming market.  But without a Tidal takeover, the chances of Apple Music catching up to Spotify now seem very slim, at least without radically new growth strategies implemented.

Apple Music has one huge weakness in its fight against Spotify

Apple Music's big problem is that its new subscribers just don't stick around, according to new research by Cowen.
Though Apple Music still lags behind Spotify's 30 million paying subscribers, it has recently picked up some growth momentum and is sitting at 15 million paid users. But its issue might not but picking up new subscribers, but rather keeping them.
In a note last week, Cowen's John Blackledge and Tim Arcuri wrote that Apple Music's subscriber churn rate of 6.4% per month is almost three times that of Spotify. That means that even though Cowen's survey suggests that Apple Music will add nearly as many paid subscribers as Spotify in the next year, roughly three-quarters of those could quit the service, the analysts write.
This could be one reason Apple might be sniffing around an acquisition of Jay Z's Tidal music streaming service. Tidal has relatively small user base of three million, but has secured a series of high-profile exclusive releases because of Jay Z's personal relationships, and the equity some artists have in the company. Apple has gotten its own exclusive windows on album releases, such as with Drake, but the combined force of Jay Z and Apple's current dealmaker, legendary music exec Jimmy Iovine, could give them a more comprehensive slate.
For "exclusives" to stop people from canceling their Apple Music subscriptions, they have to feel like there isn't significant downtime between one and the other, that there is a steady stream of releases they don't want to miss. Apple Music is not there yet, but it could be a potent weapon against Spotify if it were to team up with Tidal.
The analysts also note that Apple Music is just now entering its second year of operation, and that new subscription businesses generally experience higher churn rates. That said, having almost three times the cancellation rate of your biggest competitor might say something about the value people think they actually get from the service.
